Deteriorating conditions in strife-torn Somalia are forcing an increasing number of the population to seek a safe haven in Kenya. This influx is taxing existing refugee camps in northern Kenya, especially Dadaab camp which is struggling to take in over 500 new arrivals each day. Extreme congestion, inadequate camp infrastructures and a severe lack of funding threaten the health and quality of life of the approximately 322,700 refugees.
World Service Kenya, together with UN and other agencies, is providing education, water, security, shelter and household items to meet the needs of the rapidly growing refugee population. In Kakuma camp this includes schooling tailored to meet the special needs of children with visual, auditory or physical impairment. With your gift you can ensure that those fleeing harsh circumstances in their native land find a safe haven where their basic rights are respected.
